Scotland u-19s on steep learning curve

Scotland U-19s beaten – but still learning
After producing impressive wins over Durham Academy and SNCL Premier Division holders Greenock CC in recent weeks, Sunday saw the Scotland U-19's taste the bitter pill of defeat against an inspired Carlton X1.
With former Scottish Saltire, Cedric English among the Carlton player's to record century innings, the Edinburgh club finished the 50-over match 307 for 2 whilst the talented youngsters could only reply with 117 all out.
However, as Craig Wright, Cricket Scotland's National Performance Manager and coach of the Scotland U-19's explained, his squad can take many lessons from their defeat.
"It's good for our guys to have to face up to that (level of competition), said Scotland's most capped player.
"At this (SNCL Premier Division) level, they will learn more from being in difficult situations like this match than probably from winning games because they are learning how to bowl to these (Carlton) guys on a flat wicket and seeing how they construct a solid one day innings."
The Scotland U-19's are scheduled to play Grange CC next Sunday (25th).
