19 year-old Calum MacLeod finally saw his dream of earning a Scottish Saltires cap fulfilled on Sunday when the talented county cricketer was released by Warwickshire to play Durham in the away fixture.
Though the Scots lost by 38 runs to the reigning champions of the Friends Provident Trophy, MacLeod wasted no time in making his debut appearance count when he claimed the scalp of Ben Harmison when the Englishman was on 20 and subsequently running out Paul Mustard on 57.
The talented Scot will have a further opportunity to impress selectors as he faces Yorkshire at Headingley today (Monday) and possibly Derbyshire in Glasgow on Wednesday.
MacLeod, a right-arm medium fast bowler, earned his first senior Scotland cap in an Intercontinental Cup match against UAE last season.
The Glasgow born teenager, who has risen through the ranks before playing for the Saltires this week, was awarded a contract with Warwickshire in 2006.
Though also a talented hockey player, MacLeod has never had to look far from home for inspiration in his cricketing career.
For behind the stumps, his father Donald has kept his son's cricketing career in sharp focus whilst also working as Chief Photographer for the Scotsman newspaper whilst mum Morag volunteered for many seasons as organiser for Scotland's younger age group teams.
