Kids encouraged to get involved with local stars
This Sunday, aspiring Saltires who are under the age of 18 on 1st April 2008 and are accompanied by a paying adult will enjoy free entry to watch the Scottish Saltires play Durham Dynamos in Edinburgh.
The gesture of goodwill from Cricket Scotland is part of the sport's ongoing plans to encourage more kids into the game.
Roddy Smith, Chief Executive at Cricket Scotland explained: "Interest and participation in cricket in Scotland is growing particularly among young people.
"We feel it is important to support the drive to encourage more people to enjoy sport and hope that, by waiving our entry fee for this match, it will encourage lots more young boys and girls to come along, either with their friends or as a family."
The Scottish Saltires latest match in the Friends's Provident Trophy starts at 12 noon at Citylet Grange. The Scottish XI will play their fourth match of the season with their morale boosted by a dramatic win over Freddie Flintoff's Lancashire side on Monday.
News has also reached ITWZ that Cricket Scotland will shortly announce full details of plans for Australia to play Scotland on August 28 2009 as part of the Aussies Ashes Tour.
