Junior squad announced for under-19 Euro Championships
Scotland’s selectors have named a 13-strong squad to take part in the ICC Europe Under-19 Championships, which will be hosted at clubs in the West of Scotland over three days from August 5.
The announcement follows the squad’s third victory in the Lloyds TSB Scotland premier league, when they defeated Greaves Clydesdale by one wicket with seven balls to spare, in a thrilling match at Titwood last Sunday.
Previously, they had defeated both Greenock and Grange, the top two teams in the league. Before the European tournament, they have one more league match to play, this coming Sunday, against Ayr at New Cambusdoon.
Manager Ron Fleming said: "All our players have worked hard during the past winter, indoors and during the season, and we look forward to meeting the challenge of the best that Europe can bring to the tournament in Scotland."
The squad is: Fraser Burnett (captain), Matthew Parker, Marc Petrie, Calvin Burnett (all Arbroath); Ewan Chalmers (Watsonians); Freddie Coleman, Keith Morton (Penicuik); Scott Galloway (Freuchie); Calum MacLeod (War-wickshire); Scott Redhead (Durham); Aman Bailwal (Forfarshire); Matthew Bremner (Dunfermline; Willie Rowan (Prestwick).
