Scotland captain Hamilton takes positives from Aussie defeat
Scotland captain Gavin Hamilton believes his side will have learnt a great deal from their one-day international defeat against Australia on Friday.
The tourists were convincing winners posting 345 from their 50 overs before dispatching Scotland for 156 to seal a 189-run victory.
There were plusses for Scotland in the shape of Gordon Goudie, who claimed five wickets including the prized scalp of stand-in Aussie captain Michael Clarke and Hamilton insists that wasn’t the only positive to come out of the game.
“I think, as a team, we can take a lot away from the game. We stood up well. When you play a team like Australia, you have to watch and learn,” said Hamilton – who top scored with 38.
"I said to the players, if you're not involved, you've got to watch the way they go about their cricket.
"Everything they do is right, they might not win every game, but they are pushing forward and that's something we can learn from.
“To stem the flow was crucial because it could have got out of control," said Hamilton after the one-day match.
“Gordon was also a bonus, he mixes his pace well, he bowls yorkers at will and, to get a five-for against these guys, is obviously outstanding.”
