Gavin Hamilton upbeat on Scottish future
Skipper Gavin Hamilton insists Scotland have taken positive steps forward despite winning just one of their eight Friends Provident Trophy games this season.
The final nail in the Scots 2009 campaign came on Wednesday as they slumped to a 37 run loss at the hands Somerset a matter of days after their sole win against Kent.
Scotland were in turmoil at the start of the campaign after Ryan Watson stepped down as captain after their opening match against Middlesex with veteran Hamilton asked to fill a temporary void.
And the former Yorkshire all-rounder, who took charge of seven Friends Provident games, believes a change in the Scots fortunes is just around the corner.
"We have really taken things forward during the last few games," said Hamilton.
"The dressing room is a happy place and we are closer to where I want us to be as a squad.
"It was disappointing not to push on and win against Somerset because we bowled and fielded really well and we have nailed that aspect of our game.
"However, a couple of soft dismissals cost us and we need to develop more of a winning mentality."
