Skipper Hamilton believes Saltires can cause upset against Somerset
Scottish Saltires captain Gavin Hamilton has backed his troops to upset the odds and claim their first FP Trophy victory against Somerset today.
The former Yorkshire all-rounder has recovered from a hamstring strain to lead the Saltires in Taunton and after last week's near miss against Kent is convinced a first win of the season is just around the corner.
And Hamilton insists his side can pull off the win despite the absences of senior bowlers John Blain and Craig Wright, who will again be replaced by inexperienced pace duo of Matt Parker and Sean Weeraratna.
He said: "We are miles away from where we want to be. We have been hit by so many call-offs to key players, especially seam bowlers, and are also struggling to get any sort of continuity in our batting order.
"But, despite that, we have still shown we can compete against the counties and it would come as no surprise if we were to beat Somerset.
"They are a good side with some world class players such as Marcus Trescothick and Justin Langer, but if we can get in about them we will have a chance.
"Taking a couple of early wickets would make a big difference to our chances."
