Scotland claim win against Canada in ICC Intercontinental Cup
Gordon Drummond's reign as Scotland captain got off to a perfect start as the Saltires held their nerve to edge past Canada by 29 runs in their ICC Intercontinental Cup clash in Aberdeen.
Chasing 243 runs for victory the Canadians battled bravely but Calum MacLeod, Jan Stander, Moneeb Iqbal and Richie Berrington each grabbed two wickets to dismiss them for 213.
And Drummond, who is Scotland?s third captain of the season - following on from Ryan Watson and Gavin Hamilton, was thrilled to get a win under his belt.
Drummond, who made important contributions of 52 and 34 in each innings, said: "It's a dream start for me and it was vital to begin on a winning note.
"It was time for me to take more responsibility with the bat and I'm pleased we were able to give our bowlers something to defend.
"We showed a lot of character, stayed calm and stuck to the basics and we?ve set a good standard for ourselves for the rest of the tournament."
