Former Scotland skipper Craig Wright calls time on international career
Cricketer Craig Wright has called time on his international career after Scotland's exit from the ICC Twenty20 World Cup.
The 35-year-old former skipper has accumulated a national record 194 caps for Scotland since his debut in 1997 but has quit to become Cricket Scotland's performance development manager.
Wright had decided to retire prior to this month's World Cup event but answered an eleventh hour call to bolster the Saltires' bowling attack.
"It has been an immense privilege to have represented my country in a sport I love over the past 12 years and I am proud to have had the honour of captaining the side during that period," said Wright.
"I am glad to have been involved during a period where the Scotland team took significant strides forward and became the leading associate nation.
"Stepping back from international cricket will allow me to focus on my role as performance development manager. My ambition is to assist the next generation of Scottish cricketers."
