New Scotland captain lays down marker to Saltires
Scotland captain Gavin Hamilton has vowed to wield the axe after the Saltires slumped to a second straight Friends Provident Trophy defeat against Warwickshire.
Bears duo Neil Carter and Ian Bell made light work of chasing down Scotland's total of 182 smashing 65 and 51 respectively as the eased home by seven wickets at Edgbaston.
Hamilton marked his debut as captain with a half-century supported by 50 from Australian Cameron Borgas but inexperienced told as Scotland lost again.
Scotland will have little time to dwell on the result with Kent at Canterbury next up today and Hamilton admitted the chop will soon fall on the Saltires underachievers.
"We are very much in transitional stage and this tournament is all about progression, but if you are not performing then there isn't much to fall back on," said Hamilton.
"We played against 11 full-time first class cricketers and even if a few people were missing they were still strong compared to us.
"We don't play enough cricket that is clear to see and most of the guys have jobs and despite what people think only a few are professional.
"But if people don't perform then they will be told and changes will be made. We need good performances and if guys aren't doing well then others will be given a go."
