Lucky escape for Scotland after final day washout
Scotland thanked the heavens after rain washed out the final day of their Intercontinental Cup clash against Ireland and saved them from an embarrassing defeat.
The Scots were set to resume day four on 72 for five chasing an unlikely total of 297 but didn’t grace the turf in Aberdeen once due to persistent rain.
Ireland will take away just three points for their efforts while Scotland end in the ascendancy claiming nine after securing a lead of six runs after the first innings.
Scotland – who convincingly beat Canada at the start of last month – now top the Intercontinental Cup table with 29 points from two games.
