Scotland's 2009 campaign hits new long as John Blain walks out on squad
Pace bowler John Blain has left Scotland in the lurch just days before the Twenty20 World Cup after walking out on the national team on Sunday.
The 30-year-old was rumoured to have exchanged words with skipper Gavin Hamilton after the Scots back-to-back unofficial World Cup warm-up defeats against the West Indies and Bangladesh last week.
Blain played no part in their final behind closed doors fixture at Wormsley Cricket Ground against the PCA Masters and subsequently parted company with the team.
Scotland's failure to qualify for the 2011 World Cup in April almost prompted Blain to walk out there and then but he was persuaded to stay after Gavin Hamilton was appointed captain.
Blain's last minute exit has left the Scots with an anxious wait to see whether the International Cricket Council will allow him to be replaced.
