Paul Van Rietvelde also made it into a quarter-final double. He cruised through his first round of singles with a 21-6-21-10 victory over Fiji’s Devarisi Sharma and then joined his Longniddry colleague Craig Pollock in a 21-13 21-8 win over Sharma and Chee Ying Wong in the doubles.
