Eilidh steals silver on the track

Eilidh Child takes silver for Scotland in 400m hurdles
Eilidh Child went into the final of the 400m hurdles as second fastest from the heats and ran a fantastic race to clinch the silver medal in a time of 55.62.
“I'm totally over the moon, I knew I had a chance of getting a medal and I really wanted it so much. I didn't want to panic and go out there and go too fast,” said Eilidh.
"It was hell for leather after that last hurdle because I knew there were four of us in it. I didn't know where they were; I just kept my head down and went for it.
"I could hear my coach in my head saying, 'just go for the line.'
"I knew I was strong but I didn't want to want it too much. I just tried to keep my focus and keep in control as well.
"It really makes up for the Europeans. I didn't want to have that disappointment again coming off the track.
"What's important is where you are at 400.
"I'm really happy. The atmosphere was amazing. When I came out of the call-up room I didn't realise how full it was. The noise was incredible."
"My family were all watching it at home on TV."
