Dry and Miley scoop inaugural awards

With exactly one year to go until the Commonwealth Games – Team Scotland have launched an athlete of the month award for those bidding to board the plane to Delhi.

Hammer thrower Mark Dry and swimmer Hannah Miley are the first two athletes to scoop the prize with Team Scotland – alongside Clydesdale Bank – giving both £500 for their achievements.

Dry has already exceeded the 66m qualification mark for Delhi and became the first Scot since his coach Chris Black to break the 70m barrier after a throw of 70.81m in August.

Miley has been equally impressive year finishing fourth in the 400m medley and sixth in the 200m medley at the World Championships in Rome and qualifies for as many as seven events in Delhi.
