If you think hiking up Ben Nevis, at 4406ft Britain's highest peak is hard work, imagine trying to reach the summit in a wheelchair.
This Saturday (31st May) that's exactly what ten wheelchair-bound participants will be doing as they navigate and lead their respective teams in a race to the summit and with the added incentive of helping the charities Capability Scotland and Scope raise over £100,000 to support disabled people across the UK.
The idea for the challenge has been partly inspired by the success of a televised Beyond Boundaries expedition in the Andes last year.
Led by ex-SAS soldier turned TV presenter Ken Kames, that documentary highlighted the physical challenge and determination of two disabled (wheelchair bound) participants as their expedition tried to cross the Andes.
Now, Kames has teamed up with Scope and Capability Scotland to create a unique 'Ken Nevis' challenge that organisers say has attracted competitors from all over the UK.
