

David Florence named Aberdeen's Sports Person of the Year
At the 16th annual Aberdeen Sports Awards, Olympic canoeist David Flornece, who won a silver medal in Beijing, was named the Sports Person of the Year.
Alistair McGregor, the GB Hockey goalkeeper who had an outstanding Olympic Games tournament in Beijing helping GB to fifth spot, came second and swimmer Robbie Renwick, a finalist in the Olympic 200m freestyle final, picked up third place.
The Chris Anderson Trust award gold medal was presented to Jonanna Henderson (tennis) who had an outstanding season that included winning the Ariel British Grand Prix Masters in February, helping GB reach the Junior World Team Final in August and capturing the British 14 and Under Outdoor title in the same month.
Joanna was also presented with the Junior Female Athlete of the Year Award.
Catriona McGergor (Shooting) and Mhairi Charlton (squash) and Louise Fleming (hockey) all received silver medals.
Renwick collected the Amateur Male Award with shooter Sheena Sharp receiving the female equivalent.
Neil Fachie (Bridge of Don) was presented with the Disability Athlete of the Year Award in recognition of his achievement in being selected for the GB Paralympic Team.
The Universities’ Award went to Olympic swimmer Hannah Miley, who will be one of Britains top medal hopes for this summer’s world championships in Rome.
