Florence and Walsh challenge for places at Canoe Slalom European Championships
Olympic silver medallists David Florence and Campbell Walsh will bid to secure their places at the Canoe Slalom European Championships this weekend.
Aberdeen-born Florence, 26, who picked up silver at the Beijing Olympics last August, will compete in both the C1 and C2 classes for the first time at the trials in Nottingham.
Having teamed up with Richard Hounslow, if Florence qualifies for selection he will become the first slalom canoeist to compete in both classes at the European Championships.
In the K1, Glasgow's Walsh, who picked up his Olympic silver at Athens 2004, will be desperate to qualify in order to defend his European crown when the championships come to Nottingham on May 29.
In the women's K1 Beijing Olympian Fiona Pennie of Dumbartonshire will also be bidding for qualification.
