Simmons dealt boxing lesson in Milan

Steve Simmons comes up short at World Amateur Championships in Milan
Scottish heavyweight Stephen Simmons was given a bruising lesson by Oleksandr Usyk at the World Amateur Boxing Championships in Milan.
Simmons, who was just two wins from securing a medal, was always going to find the going tough against the powerful and strongly-fancied Ukrainian.
And the Leith boxer duly went down 11-1 in a last 16 encounter.
“It was a difficult ask for him – Usyk is the number two rated heavyweight in the world,” said British coach Kelvyn Travis.
“It was a valuable learning experience and the scoreline gives a misleading impression of how well he did.
“Steve isn’t the finished article yet, he’s got bags of potential at world level.”
