McIntyre ready to reclaim British welterweight crown
Kevin McIntyre is convinced he can become the No.1 British welterweight champion again – despite his comeback fight in Bolton on Friday being abandoned.
The 31-year-old was due to fight Brett Flournoy but the fight was called-off after light-middleweight Jason Rushton was rushed to hospital after an earlier bout.
But McIntyre – who is now represented by Frank Maloney – is determined to get back to the top of the British boxing tree.
He said: “Frank wants to push me towards a title eliminator soon and I won't let him down.
“I’m punching harder than I ever have done and I reckon I have plenty still ahead of me – all I need is a chance.
“It’s great to have Frank representing me and with his support I’m sure I can be the best welterweight in the country again.”
