Lee mcAllister edges closer to European shot after stunning win
Boxer Lee McAllister’s proposed European lightweight title bout has moved a step closer with promoters in advanced talks for him to fight France’s Anthony Mezaache.
The Aberdeen Assassin underlined his growing reputation with a stunning seventh round knockout of Charlie King at the weekend.
And promoters Tommy Gilmour and Barry Hearn are talking to the French title holder’s representative Bernard Roos about a New Year 2010 bout in the United Kingdom.
Gilmour said: “I am in discussion with my co-promoter Barry Hearn from Matchroom Sport and we are just waiting for confirmation of the date from the television companies.
“They are ready to press the button and it will be all systems go. Barry knows this fight will be box office and that is why the money is so high.
“The fight will take place in Glasgow, simply due to the fact we can get a stronger undercard down there.”
