RIcky Burns driven by fear of failure in Commonwealth title clash
Boxer Ricky Burns admits his chances of landing a world title fight could be over if he loses his Commonwealth featherweight bout against Kevin O'Hara.
The 26-year-old makes the third defence of his crown at the Bellahouston Leisure Centre, Glasgow on June 19, facing the much improved Belfast-born O'Hara.
And Burns, who has lost two of his 26 professional fights, believes he could be left on the scrap heap if O'Hara puts him on the canvas next month.
"This is my world title fight," said Burns. "If I get beaten, it's another year or two years waiting to get back in the title mix again so this is the biggest fight of my career.
"I'm in no rush - I'm only 26. I?m just going to leave it to my management and promotion team. I know that they'll get me the fights at the right time.
"Obviously, if a world title fight comes up, I'm more than happy to take it but it'll be more difficult if I get beaten."
