Anderson to face David in Glasgow

Craigmillar boxer Kenny Anderson will fight in Glasgow after his British super-middleweight title eliminator was announced.

The 26-year-old is set to face Sheffield’s Paul David on January after Glasgow promoter Tommy Gilmour won the purse bids to host the fight.

Anderson – who won Commonwealth gold for Scotland in the light heavyweight category in Melbourne 2006 – faces the toughest fight of his career to beat David.

But he said: “I’ve been training hard in an English gym recently. I’ve seen Paul David on DVD and he is a tough opponent but I still think I will beat him.

Promoter Gilmour added: “It will be a tough fight for Kenny as David gave Steve McGuire a tough scrap at Kirkcaldy Ice Rink in 2006 before losing on points.”
