Anderson delighted with opportunity to revive career

Edinburgh’s Kenny Anderson is thrilled to be nominated for a British 12-stone title eliminator against Englishman Paul David.

The super middleweight, who is contractually a free agent, was put forward for the bout by the Board of Boxing Control and a purse bid deadline of 14 October has been set.

The Celtic 12-stone champion looked set for great things in boxing after claiming gold in the 2006 Commonwealth Games, but his career has stuttered along since.

But the prospect of a high-profile fight and a potential partnership with former world featherweight champion Barry McGuigan look set to reignite his fledgling career.

“I'm delighted that the Board of Control have nominated me to fight Paul David,” said Anderson. “I've seen David a couple of times in action and he is tricky and fast but I'm equally confident that I can and will beat him when we clash.

“Still, we will have to see how things pan out with Barry McGuigan but in the meantime, I will be training hard in preparation for my bout with Paul David.”
