Scottish Rocks' dismal losing streak continues with defeat to Newcastle
Scottish Rocks crashed to their ninth defeat in a row as Newcastle Eagles wrapped up their third BBL Championship in four years over the weekend.
The Rocks sunk to an 87-70 defeat at the MetroRadio Arena and are now in serious danger of slipping out of the play-off places with just three matches to go.
Trey Moore and Reggie Jackson were the stars of the show for the Eagles, as they notched 23 and 15 points respectively, with Jackson chipping in with ten assists and six rebounds.
The Eagles flew out of the blocks and raced into an 18-10 lead but, inspired by Gareth Murray, the Rocks roared back to make the score 21-18 at the end of the first quarter.
Again Newcastle stretched their lead with Moore again at the forefront but once more they were pegged back as Rob Yanders chalked up six quick-fire points to make the score 41-39 to the Eagles at the half-time interval.
But after the break Jackson led the Eagles to a ten-point lead as the visitors were restricted to just 12 points in the third quarter.
Yanders, Marc Pratt and Wilbur Johnson all finished the match with 14 points for the Rocks but the Eagles cantered to victory in the final quarter to successfully defend their BBL Championship crown.
