Sapp keeps feet on the ground

Glasgow Rocks' summer signing Jessie Sapp has pleaded for patience from the fans ahead of his team's opening day derby fixture against Newcastle Eagles on Sunday.

The American was snapped up in the off-season by player-coach Sterling Davis along with fellow Yank Mike Copeland and former Rocks guard Steve Parillon.

And Sapp seems to have taken to his role in the Kelvin Hall side like a duck to water, netting 32 points in Monday's friendly against a USA select team.

But the New York-born star was adamant he will be taking nothing for granted in his first professional game on Sunday against last season's BBL champions

"I'm not really nervous about the Newcastle match," said Sapp. "I'm a little apprehensive though, I do want to get this first one out of the way and then settle into the season.

"I don't think there'll be a huge amount of difference between college ball in the States and pro ball here but there's bound to be some differences and I'm going to have to adjust to it."
