Rocks slip up again as play-off charge continues to falter

Scottish Rocks' play-off hopes were dealt a body blow after a 99-87 defeat at the hands of Marshall MK Lions - the Glasgow outfit's tenth consecutive loss.

Rob Yanders led the way for the Rocks with 25 points but the Kelvin Hall faithful went home disappointed as 30 points, six rebounds and four assists from Jayson Obazuaye fired the Lions to victory.

The defeat leaves the Rocks looking over their shoulders in sixth place with 30 points, just two points above the Lions, Sheffield Sharks and the Cheshire Jets.

With the top eight going into the end of season play-offs things are looking ominous for the out-of-form Rocks.

It had all looked rosy early on when the home side opened up a 10-6 lead after four minutes. But the Lions, led by two three-pointers and 10 points for Terrell Brown, hit back with an 18-3 surge.

The home side rallied late in the first quarter as Chi Lewis-Parry scored the last five points to make it 26-20.

Obazuaye stamped his authority on the game in the second quarter- scoring the last five points for a 51- 34 lead for the Lions at the break.

In the closing stages of the third quarter the Rocks threatened a grandstand finish with a 9-2 surge to make it 76-62 but the visitors kept their Scottish opponents at arm's length to record a vital victory.
