Scottish Rocks become Glasgow Rocks for new season

The Scottish Rocks are set to change their name to the Glasgow Rocks for the new British Basketball League season which kicks off next month.

The Rocks will celebrate the occasion with a pre-season launch against a USA Select team less than a week before their season opener with champions Newcastle Eagles.

The change comes as the club bid to cement their long-term partnership with Culture and Sport Glasgow and Glasgow City Council.

The Rocks will continue to play their home games at Kelvin Hall but will ultimately play at the new National Indoor Sports Arena upon its completion in 2010.

The launch will also see the introduction of a new youth structure for the Rocks with eight new teams falling under the new name.
