Rocks slump to play-off defeat against Everton Tigers
The Scottish Rocks suffered play-off heartache after a dominating fourth quarter display from the Everton Tigers saw them slump 84-64 at the Greenbank Sports Academy.
The Rocks were trailing by just six points going late on but two Marcus Bailey three pointers and one each from James Jones, Josh Gross and Andre Smith ended any hopes the Scots had of a comeback.
Point guard Richard Midgley provided the backbone to the Tigers domination slotting 18 points while Gross (17), Bailey (10) and Olu Babalola provided vital support.
Centre Wilbur Johnson put in a fine solo performance for the Rocks matching Midgley's 18 point effort but it wasn't enough as they missed out a place in the semi-finals.
However it wasn't complete plain sailing for Everton and after leading 21-16 in the first quarter quickly fell to 30-28 deficit thanks to Johnson and Gareth Murray's three-point efforts.
The Rocks didn't let the Tigers run away after they re-took the lead in third period eventually taking the score to within in six but couldn't stop Everton's fourth quarter romp.
