Scotland's Susan Hughes ended the season in style by finishing runner-up in the women's singles at the Volant D'or Toulouse Open in France.

The Commonwealth Games medallist defeated Indonesia's Maria Eltira Christina 21-15 21-11 in the semi-final to reach her first final of the season. But she then lost 18-21 12-21 to Olga Konon, from Belarus.

Hughes had pulled out of last week's Spanish Open with a back injury, and she said: "It's good to end the season on a high. Now I'll have a short holiday before getting into some hard summer training."
