In the first round, the Glasgow player beat England's Sarah Walker 21-8 21-16, and followed up with a 21-13 21-14 win over China's Xin Xu.

In the women's doubles, Edinburgh's Jillie Cooper and Belgium's Nathalie Descamps, finalists at last week's Spanish Open, lost 21-9 21-12 in the first round to the French top seeds, Elodie Eymard and Weny Rashmawati.

Jillie and Watson Briggs also went out in the second round of the mixed, losing 21-16 21-17 to the top-class Indonesian pair of Rendra Wijaya and Meiliana Jauhari.
