Scots given tough draw

Scots Susan Egelstaff (formerly Hughes) and Alistair Casey have received difficult draws for next month's World Badminton Championships in India.

Commonwealth bronze medalist and world No 28 Susan Egelstaff will face tricky start against Finnish number one Anu Nieminen, the 2000 Bank of Scotland International champion, in the opening round. A win will take her through to a second-round clash against fourth seed Wang Yihan of China.

And world No 65 Alistair Casey also faces a tough time in the men's singles. Casey starts against Bulgarian Stilian Makarski with the winner going on to meet 15th seed India's Chetan Anand or Korean Hong Ji Hoon.

Scotland's doubles hope Imogen Bankier yesterday confirmed her withdrawal through injury along with mixed doubles partner Robert Blair, who is also ruled out injured.
