

Scots crusie to victory past Norway in Euro u-17s
Bothwell’s Kirsty Gilmour, who is the No.2 seed in the individual singles, led Scotland to a whitewash victory over Norway in the first round of team matches at the European Under-17 Championships in Medvode in Slovenia .
In the first tie on court, Gilmour, the 16-year-old who has already won Bank of Scotland Under-19 Scottish title and the UK School Games this season, beat Cathrine Fossmo 21-18 21-11.
Matthew Carder followed up with a 21-13 21-19 win over Carl Christian Hem in the boys’ singles and Gilmour and Caitlin Pringle then secured the overall victory by defeating Fossmo and Marta Garden 22-20 21-12 in the girls’ doubles.
Scotland went on to complete the 5-0 triumph without dropping a game. Carder and Lewis Gallacher had a 22-20 21-16 victory over Hem and JannMenkin in the boys’ doubles and Edward Cogliano and Emma Cook took the mixed point with a 21-13 22-20 scoreline against Garden and Johannes Hagen.
