Scotland's promotion hopes still alive after defeating Australia in Sudirman Cup
Scotland whitewashed Australia to keep alive their promotion hopes at the Sudirman Cup.
After a narrow defeat to the Ukraine, nothing but a win would do and the Scottish team responded.
Andrew Bowman and Emma Mason claimed a second mixed doubles win in two days as they brushed aside Benjamin Walkate and Kate Wilson Smith 21-10, 23-21.
Yonex National singles champion Gordon Thomson scored an impressive men's singles win over Jeff Tho 21-14, 21-18.
And Bowman picked up his second win of the day when he and Thomas Bethell defeated Walkate and Glenn Warfe 21-9, 21-14 in the men's doubles.
Commonwealth bronze medallist Susan Hughes then proved too strong for Erica Pong, winning their women's singles encounter 21-10, 21-8.
And Mason returned to the court to complete the clean sweep when she and Jillie Cooper defeated Wilson Smith and Eugenia Tanake 29-27 21-16 in 36 minutes - the longest match of the tie.
Scotland's last group match is tomorrow against highly-fancied India, who crushed Ukraine 5-0 on Tuesday.
However, their win over Australia means Scotland are almost certain to avoid relegation play-off and instead face a group positional play-off on Thursday.
