New year and new partner for Imogen

Glasgow’s Imogen Bankier is to test out an exciting new partnership with England’s Donna Kellogg at the first Super Series event of the new year in Malaysia.

Kellogg and the recently retired Gail Emms reached the top ten in the world in women’s doubles and competed at the Beijing Olympics in August – so this could be a great opportunity for Bankier.

The 21-year-old Scot has played women’s doubles with England’s Sarah Bok for the past year. They are currently ranked No.45 in the world.

The Malaysian Open takes place next week and Bankier and England’s Robert Blair, ranked no.8 in the world, are the No.5 seeds in the mixed doubles.

There was little time for rest over the Festive period for the world’s best badminton players with the Malaysian event set to be followed by a second Super Series in South Korea in the middle of January.
