Scotland’s Emma Mason suffered women’s doubles heartache alongside England’s Samantha Ward at the Yonex Belgian International in Mechelen.
Despite winning the first game Mason – in her first season as a full-time player – and Ward couldn’t stop Japanese duo Misaki Mosutomo and Ayaha Takahashi coming back to win.
Mosutomo and Takahashi ran out 8-21, 21-18, 21-13 victors against the British pair in a final lasting just 46 minutes in Belgium.
However Mosutomo didn’t stop there and inflicted further misery on Scotland ending the run of national champion Susan Egelstaff 13-21, 21-12, 21-8 in the semi-final of the women’s singles.
