Linda Sloan crashes out in opening round of Polish Championships
Linda Sloan, the lone Scot taking part in the Polish Championships, lost a close opening round to the Ukraine’s Karin Schnaase in the women’s singles. The Glasgow youngster took the second game but went down 15-21 21-19 13-21.
Next week, Linda will be part of a seven strong Scottish team taking part in the Finnish Open in Helsinki.
The line-up includes Emma Mason – the Scot who has been sidelined for almost a year with a career-threatening Achilles injury. The Edinburgh 22-year-old will be playing in the women’s doubles with England’s Heather Olver.
The only seeded Scot is Susan Hughes – she is No.6 in the women’s singles. Scottish Champion Gordon Thomson and Kieran Merrilees have to qualify in the men’s singles.
