Linda Sloan flies the flag alone for Scotland at Cyprus International
Linda Sloan carries Scotland’s hopes in this week’s Cyprus International. The Glasgow youngster opens her campaign against local girl Stelia Knekna.
But she has had a tough draw. If she wins, her second match should pitch her agains the English top seed, Helen Davies.
Meanhwile, Kieran Merriles, who reached the final of the Bulgarian nternational at the weekend, has broken into the world top 100 in men’ singles.
The Glasgow 20-year-old is now the top Scot at No. 96. He has overtaken Alistair Casey, who is No.118.
Susan Egelstaff remains the highest ranked Scot in singles at No.30 on the women’s list, while Linda is the next best at No.165.
