Kirsty on medal trail

Gilmour after more glory at UK School Games
Kirsty Gilmour, the Bank of Scotland Under-19 Champion, will be aiming to continue a great start to the season when she chases a hat-trick of titles as part of a strong Scottish contingent competing at this week’s UK Schools Games in Cardiff.
The Bellahouston Academy of Sport pupil has a bye through the first round of a girls’ singles event that is headed by England’s Holly Smith and she joins Emma Gallacher in the girls’ doubles and Matthew Cander in the mixed.
“I’ll be aiming for medals in Cardiff,” said 15-year-old Kirsty, who opened the season by winning the under-17 title at the Langenfield Cup in Germany. “I’m looking forward to having a really good season.”
Another two Scots – Emma Cook and Shereen Spittal - have also been given a bye into the last 16 of the girls’ singles, while Gallacher, Caitlin Pringle and Robyn Glen are in the first round.
In the boys’ singles, Carder, Stewart Fearns, Gregor McVean and Bruce Doran all have byes into the second round, with Lewis Gallacher and Edward Cogland are in action in round one.
