

Rising star Gilmour claims semi spot in Danish Grand Prix
Kirsty Gilmour, who has already won the Langenfield Cup, the UK Schools Games and the Bank of Scotland Scottish Under-19 Championship this season, reached the girls’ singles semi-finals at the Gentofte Grand Prix in Denmark.
In the Under-19 event, the 16-year-old from Bothwell went out to the eventual winner Mette Poulsen 9-21 21-18 21-10.
In the Ballerup International for Under-15s Adam Hall (Mauchline) fell in the second round but second seed Josh Neil (Prestwick) reeled off four straight-game wins before losing in the semi-finals 21-15 21-18 against Mads Sorensen.
Neil and Hall reached the quarter-finals of the doubles with two straight-game wins then a nail-biting victory over England's Alex Lane and Sam Parson 21-19 19-21 30-29 before losing to Sorensen and Patrick Bjerregaard 21-19 21-10.
In the girls’ doubles, Glasgow’s Caitlin Pringle and England ’s Holly Smith won their first few rounds before defeat to eventual champions Nanna Vestergaard and Amanda Madsen brought their campaign to an end.
