Kirsty Gilmour seeking more glory in Scottish u-19 Championship
Bothwell’s Kirsty Gilmour, who has had a terrific start to the season, will be favourite to complete a double at the Bank of Scotland Under-19 Championships at Meadowbank Sport Centre in Edinburgh on October 3-4.
Winner of the singles at this month’s UK Schools’ Games in Cardiff, the 16-year-old defends both the singles title and the girls’ doubles, with partner Kirsten Geals.
The Under-15 Bank of Scotland Scottish Championships take place over the same two days with Jordan Gilvear and Josh Neil both defending titles.
Gilvear aims to retain the boys’ doubles with new partner Fraser Whillans, while Neil is joined by Heather MacPherson in the mixed.
For Gilmour, the first set of Bank of Scotland age-group Championships will mark the start of a Scottish domestic season in which she could emerge as a real rising talent.
She has already proved her ability overseas this season with a victory in last month’s Langenfield Cup in Germany.
