Cooper to defend doubles title in front of home crowd
Scotland’s Jillie Cooper and England’s Mariana Agathangelou will be defending the women’s doubles at the bank of Scotland Scottish International Championships at the Kelvin Hall from November 18-22.
But Glasgow’s Imogen Bankier is unlikely to be fit enough to return to the Championships for the first time since she won the mixed doubles with Robert Blair two years ago.
Bankier has been sidelined with a knee injury since September – she missed the world championships in India – but the hope is that she will be back in time for a decent run at the start of the year.
Susan Egelstaff, the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, will be hoping to launch a real title challenge in the women’s singles. She has never performed to her best in previous years on home courts – but ha had a fine start to the season.
