Hughes fails to make French quarters

World number 12 too strong for Hughes in French Open
Scotland’s Susan Hughes missed out on a quarter-final place when she lost in straight games to China’s world No.12 Lin Wang in yesterday’s French Open Super Series in Paris.
Hughes, ranked 34 in the world, had scored a great win over No.8 seed Mew Choo Wong in the first round, but couldn’t stage another shock and went out 13-21 19-21.
In the mixed doubles, Glasgow’s Imogen Bankier and Edinburgh-born Robert suffered a surprise defeat. Semi-finalists at last week’s Danish Open Super Series, the No.6 seeds lost 19-21 21-15 19-21 to the unseeded Indonesians, Devin Lahardi Fitriawan and Lita Nurlita.
