Hughes beats world top ten player

Susan scalps Choo Wong at French Open Super Series
Scotland’s Susan Hughes pulled off one of the best wins of her career, and did it in convincing style, when she beat the world No.9 Mew Choo Wong 21-12 21-19 in the first round of the women’s singles at the French Open Super Series in Paris.
Hughes, ranked 34 in the world, has ready reached the finals of the Belgian and Bulgarian Opens on this season’s European circuit, but the win over the Malaysian No.8 seed was another step up in class.
The Glasgow 26-year-old now meets China’s unseeded Lin Wang for a place in the quarter-finals.
In the mixed doubles, Glasgow’s Imogen Bankier and Edinburgh-born Robert Blair are seeded No.6 and had a bye into the last 16.
