Blair and Bankier make ultra-successful debut season
Imogen Bankier and Robert Blair, the Bank of Scotland Centenary Champions, have celebrated their first year as a partnership by reaching No.17 in the world rankings in mixed doubles.
Glasgow's Bankier and Edinburgh-born Blair, who plays for England, have had a remarkable 12 months. The highlights included the win in the Centenary Scottish Championships at the Kelvin Hall in November, and a quarter-final appearance at the Yonex All-England Open in March.
Unfortunately, they just missed out on Olympic qualification - but roll on London 2012.
Imogen is just 20, while Robert will be 30 when the Olympics come to Britain - they could both be at their peak.
Susan Hughes ended a rather disappointing season on a high by making the final of the women's singles at the Volant D'Or Toulouse Open last weekend. That should merit a rise from her current standing of world No.43
