

Young star Gilmour hits top form
Bothwell's Kirsty Gilmour underlined her standing as one of Scotland's brightest young prospects by winning the girls' singles final 21-10 21-12 against Ireland's Ruth Roddis in the Bank of Scotland Home Countries Under-15 Quadrangular at Scotstoun in Glasgow.
The 14-year-old, who attends the Glasgow School of Sport, also reached the girls' doubles final with Greenock's Kirsty McGlynn. They took the opening game against Sophie Sankey and Holly Smith but the English pair hit back to win 19-21 21-18 21-12.
The all-English boys' singles final also went to three ends, with Tom Wolfenden saving four match points against George Li in the second game before going on to win 12-21 22-20 21-18.
Wolfenden and Smith went on to become double winners by taking the mixed title. They beat English team mates Sankey and Rhys Walker 21-13 17-21 21-17.
In the team event, Kirsty Gilmour and Kirsty McGlynn were both unbeaten in helping Scotland beat Ireland (10-0) and Wales (6-4) and gain a 5-all in the decider against England. But the English retained the title on a countback of games.
