Alistair Casey – the top ranked Scot at No. 126 in the men’s singles world rankings – is not competing at next week’s Bank of Scotland International Championships, but he has reached the semi-finals of the KLRC New Zealand Open.
In the Grand Prix event, the Glaswegian was seeded No.7 and did exceptionally well to make the last four. In the semis, he lost 8-21 7-21 to the Malaysian No.3 seed, Lee Tsuen Seng.
Next week, Casey will be competing in the $200,000 China Super Series and is seeded No.3 in the qualifying event.
Imogen Bankier and Robert Blair, who are not defending the Bank of Scotland title, are the No.7 seeds in the mixed doubles.
