Bankier and Blair slip down world rankings after drop in form
After a run of disappointing results, Glasgow’s Imogen Bankier and Edinburgh-born Robert Blair have dropped out of the top ten in the world mixed doubles rankings.
Having reached a career high of No.6, they are now at No.12 and two places behind the top British pair of Donna Kellogg and Anthony Clark. But Bankier and Blair did help their cause by reaching the quarter-finals of last week’s Djarum Super Series in Indonesia.
In the women’s doubles, Bankier has played with Kellogg in this month’s two Super Series tournaments and managed a couple of wins. A potential permanent pairing?
Kellogg has played in the last two Olympics and is a two-time European women’s doubles champion. Previously, she played women’s doubles with Gail Emms, the 2004 Olympic silver medallist in mixed doubles.
