Glasgow’s Imogen Bankier and England’s Robin Middleton, playing together for a first time on the European circuit, were shock finalist in the mixed doubles at the Finnish International Championships in Vantaa.

The unseeded pair crushed the Dutch No.4 seeds Ruud Busch and Paula Dooremaien 21-11 21-15 in the semi-finals before finally meeting their match in top seeds Vitalij Durkin and Nina Vislova. The Russians won the final 21-18 21-13. Bankier is currently ranked No.9 in the world with her regular partner, Robert Blair.
