Bankier hopes for better luck in Jakarta

Scottish badminton ace Imogen Bankier heads to Jakarta this week for the Indonesia Open hoping for a rapid reverse of her fortunes.

The 21-year-old and partner Robert Blair are ranked 11 in the world for doubles but crashed out in the first round of the Singapore Open last week to Olympic champions Lee Yong Dae and Lee Hyo Jung.

But the Glaswegian has had more luck in the draw at Jakarta where she and Blair will line up against world number 38 pair of Jorrit De Ruiter and Ilse Vaessen of the Netherlands on Wednesday.

Bankier will also be reforming her partnership with Donna Kellogg for the women's doubles after the pair impressed by reaching the last 16 in Singapore last week.

The duo were put together by GB coaches looking to try out new pairings with half an eye on the 2012 Olympics and will face Indonesia's Rani Mundiasti and Jo Novita in their opener.

Scotland?s Alistair Casey was also competing in Jakarta but will be catching the early flight home after losing 21-14, 21-17 to Thailand?s Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in the first round of men's singles qualifying.
